As we begin to reopen, there are increasing numbers of activities taking place in the Centre.

This session is free to all members and will take place every Wednesday 11-12.
It will be run by one of our fantastic and experienced volunteers
It will enable you to relax and feel more able to cope with all the stresses that you may be suffering at the moment.

There have been lots of requests from members to start some ‘Creative Corner’ activities.
Over the next few weeks we will be introducing new activities which will be free for members to join.
We are starting with an Art Class with Sam. This will run separately to Diana’s very popular Art Group.

We are introducing a variety of exciting member’s courses throughout June.
These courses will help to provide you with techniques and coping strategies to make life easier.
They will be facilitated by Mark with support from Sasha and will be modified as required to suit the needs and requests of members.
These will be free courses for members. Remember it’s actually free to become a member. You just need to complete a membership form which can be found on this page:Being a Member

Seated exercise with Coral
This very popular session restarted on the 8th June.
You are welcome to join Coral for some gentle exercises every Tuesday at 10.30
The exercises will help you build your upper body strength and general mobility using the core muscles that we all need for everyday life.
It is geared to suit everyone and many people find it all very relaxing and therapeutic. You don’t have to be experienced to join.
Why not give it a try? Just let us know if you would like to come and stay for lunch afterwards

If you follow us on Facebook you will see that there’s a lot happening at Canterbury Umbrella during July.
We are actively working to increase our membership and to show just how much Canterbury Umbrella can help people manage their mental health with support from other members and our staff.
If you know of someone who might like to become a member of Canterbury Umbrella why not suggest that they pop in?
There are lots of activities each week but people can always just chill out in our comfortable cafe or outside in the garden
Everyone is made to feel welcome at Canterbury Umbrella….people don’t have to be members to enjoy what’s on offer, but there are so many benefits to joining

A new member of staff
We are delighted to welcome Mark Willis to Canterbury Umbrella. He will be supporting Anna as a Mental Health Support Worker on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Mark has extensive experience in supporting people’s mental health and in addition, is a Mental Health First Aid Trainer. We are very excited to be welcoming Mark and I know that he is very much looking forward to meeting our members. Express Yourself Through Drama
STOP PRESS: Currently the group are in rehearsal for their production at Marlowe studio on Oct 29/30 – New members welcome in Nov – come along and see the show!! £7 tickets available from Marlowe Box Office
Group is Drama is a great way to gain self confidence and to express your feelings. These sessions are facilitated by Marlowe Theatre and are open to everybody with a story to tell. Even if you’ve not had any experience it’s great fun and held in a supportive way by a professional theatre director.

Walk and Talk with Martin
This is a great way to meet new friends and enjoy a bit of exercise at the same time. Everyone is welcome even if you have trouble walking very far. We chat about everything under the Sun!

Wake Up to Yoga
These ‘Covid safe’ face-to-face sessions take place every Monday in our big function room and are facilitated by Linda. This is a great way to start the week and make new friends whilst experiencing the huge benefits that Yoga provides.
There is a small charge for this session.
